Social Media Advice from the DKNY PR Girl

Internet based life Advice from the DKNY PR Girl Internet based life Advice from the DKNY PR Girl Internet based life Advice from the DKNY PR Girl In the packed web based life world, Aliza Licht stands apart as a hotshot. As senior VP of Global Communications at Donna Karan International, Aliza is the individual behind the DKNY PR GIRL on Twitter which flaunts an a large portion of a million devotees. Her new book Leave Your Mark Land Your Dream Job Kill it In Your Career Rock Social Media, is distributed by Grand Central Publishing. The book is a cheeky and prepared manual for the contemporary work world. In an ongoing discussion, Aliza shared her bits of knowledge via web-based networking media and how organizations can make a bona fide brand voice. Beast: Youve worked superbly with the DKNY PR GIRL. I wonder on the off chance that it was any simpler doing that since it is such a chic brand and store. Aliza: I think you cannot paint the DKNY PR GIRL brush over each brand. Whats directly for one organization isn't really directly for another. Before an organization or a brand leaves via web-based networking media they truly need to consider what sort of picture they need to depict in light of the fact that online networking truly must be a curated adaptation of your best self. The individual who is responsible for that web based life can truly be sure to the organization brand or adverse to the brand. I generally encourage brands to make a channel first with the goal that they themselves comprehend what their center image esteems are and the sorts of things that they would or would not be discussing. Beast: It seems like you presumably need to blend it up. You never need it to be a certain something yet you dont need to be schizophrenic. Aliza: You hit the nail on the head. The most ideal approach to kind of judge yourself is to glance back at your own course of events and simply think on the off chance that you werent you, in the event that you were a more interesting perusing your timetable, what sort of impression do you make? Beast: When you initially began tweeting as DKNY PR GIRL, you utilized an anecdotal persona so it wasnt you that was out there before the crowd, and afterward you kind of came out from behind that persona. For what reason was that imperative to do eventually did you feel? Aliza: The plan to uncover me as the individual behind the Twitter handle was truly originated from others in the organization saying, Okay, all anybody needs to know is who this individual is. It turned into this large secret and it began to repress the brand from taking an interest in web based life meetings. Beast: Was it troublesome when you were then beginning to tweet as yourself? Aliza: I truly held consistent with the persona that I had made which truly is my character obviously its a lot simpler to state anything you desire when no one knows what your identity is. I truly adhered to the program since I didnt need individuals to pivot and resemble, Oh, god now that shes out that handle is horrendous, shes not tweeting anything she used to. I truly needed to be consistent with the voice which is my voice, all things considered, incidentally however it just felt significantly more powerless once I came out. Beast: Youve been liberal in discussing your group, your PR group that causes you do what you do. Im thinking about what would you be able to enlighten us concerning how you direct them in how to best speak to the DKNY brand? Aliza: I will in general make an exceptionally open workplace where individuals feel engaged and when individuals feel enabled they inherently feel progressively enthusiastic. Everybody gives 200%, its exactly how it is and I do too. They know theres nothing that they do that I havent done previously or wouldnt do once more. Its especially that mindset. To the extent living and breathing the brand, I believe that that is one of the most significant things you can do when you kind of hope to speak to an organization in any correspondences job whether it be PR, showcasing or promoting. I think you need to trust in the item. I for one couldn't carry out this responsibility in the event that I didnt have confidence in the item. Beast: Do you utilize or give your representatives an internet based life Blue Book or rules for the organization? Aliza: We have an online life strategy, obviously, and each organization ought to have a web based life strategy set up for their workers. Each representative should peruse that before they post. Beast: How you have recouped from minutes where a tweet has gone out and its like, Ooh, ought not have said that. Or on the other hand, Wow take a gander at that response. How might you suggest managers explore that region? Aliza: I generally state theres a major distinction in saying Im sorry or saying Im unfortunately Pointing your fault somewhere else doesnt turn out well in online life. Individuals anticipate that brands should assume that liability and to possess that duty. Weve seen many, numerous instances of CEOs who attempt to kind of point the finger somewhere else when things have not gone their way in their organizations. I figure they should peruse my book above all else, yet they should quit doing that since its a self-sustaining issue. Individuals hop on Its consistently the David and Goliath story with regards to mark versus buyer. Also, I think the main thing that brands ought not do is leave their Twitter handles in the possession of understudies or associates who are new to the organization and dont comprehend the brand voice, the brand impacts, the brand DNA and unquestionably how to alter what they state. Alizas book, Leave Your Mark Land Your Dream Job Kill it In Your Career Rock Social Media, distributed by Grand Central Publishing. Aliza Licht graduated the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Neurobiology and Physiology and fantasies about turning into a plastic specialist. After she understood that she couldnt go through a time on earth in scours, she chose to seek after her youth love of design and began in the magazine business. Licht chose to make the hop to mold advertising in 1998 when she joined Donna Karan International. She is right now the senior VP of worldwide interchanges.

Client Development Why Healthy Paranoia Helps

Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers Client Development: Why Healthy Paranoia Helps Greetings from Chicago. Having grown up in Lombard, IL, I always enjoy coming back to visit (even in February). Enough of my fond memories, let’s get to healthy paranoia. I remember in 1983 when my friend and partner and I started our own firm. It was at that moment I realized how important it was for me to have healthy paranoia. I was always just a little worried I would not generate enough revenue to feed my family. So, even when I was incredibly busy I was planting seeds. If I was busy practicing law right now, unless there was a big trial scheduled I would have no idea what I would be working on six months from now. The thought of showing up for work one day with nothing to do would still scare me enough to continue planting those seeds. I have coached many lawyers who have shared my healthy paranoia. Let me tell you the story of one of those lawyers. She actually served as the role model for my book Rising Star. A few years ago I received an email from a young partner I was coaching. She was experiencing the same thing I had felt. She had projects in the works, but her billable hours were lower than normal and that was a source of great stress. My friend had created a really great business plan, and she was continuing to meet with industry contacts, governmental, consultants as well as a number of clients and potential clients. While her reputation was continuing to grow, it just was not translating into immediate work. Part of her concern and stress was because she had such a great the previous year, and she feared the firm’s leaders would be disappointed with her. While she felt the leadership would think “long term,” the “associate” in her still worried about meeting and exceeding hourly targets. My friend ended her email: We are either moving so fast we fear we might careen off the highway, or we are not moving fast enough and we worry that the  18-wheeler behind us is going to run us over. I could relate. I had been there. In the past I worried about having enough work for me and my practice group members. I also experienced feeling I was either moving too fast or not fast enough. Her highway analogy was very appropriate. I told my friend she had what I call “healthy paranoia.” I believe most super successful people have it. They are successful in part because they feel the strong need inside to be successful and they worry when things are not going just the way they want them. Because of their worry, they are the first to take action to improve their situation. What do I mean? I always felt I could become a better lawyer, a more valuable counselor, and a better communicator. I worked at it every day because I loved the feeling I got from making progress. Great athletes work at it every day. If you have a moment take a look at this New Yorker article from 2014: Better All the Time  How the “performance revolution” came to athleticsâ€"and beyond. When I read the article I was reminded of the managing partner of a large US law firm who said to me: Client Development Coaching Cordell? What good is it? Lawyers either have it or they don’t. That was the way we started the coaching program in his firm. Needless to say he was the firm’s biggest skeptic. In the article the writer describes a change in how athletes view getting better. Today, in sports, what you are is what you make yourself into. Innate athletic ability matters, but it’s taken to be the base from which you have to ascend. As a lawyer seeking to attract, retain and expand relationships with clients, innate legal and communication ability matters, but it is the base from which your hard work striving to get better helps you ascend. I have coached lawyers now for 11 years and mentored and coached lawyers in my own firm before that. Many of you who read this blog are one of those lawyers. The joy I had working with you was seeing that healthy paranoia and your great efforts to get better. I practiced law for 37 years developing a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the US.

5 ways to provide the optimal employee workplace experience

5 ways to provide the optimal employee workplace experience The workplace is transforming at an unprecedented rate. We’ve now entered the cognitive era, where machines have the capacity to learn, reason, and interact with humans. This has resulted in blurred boundaries between humans and technology. But there’s nothing to fear. Humans can now work with and see firsthand benefits from new technologies to achieve more than ever before. In a way, the cognitive era is really the “human era” where work proves to be a more rewarding experience for employees. Because of this, organizations are re-examining their employees’ experiences at work as guidelines for improved job performance and sustained competitive advantage. Employee experience is best defined as an impactful and powerful â€" and ultimately human â€" experience, one in which employees feel inspired to invest more of their entire selves into the workplace. Research shows that if employees experience higher levels of respect and support and a sense of belonging at work, they tend to perform better, are more likely to exert discretionary effort at their jobs, and are less likely to leave companies. “Organizations that provide more positive employee experiences stand to see greater ROI in terms of company success,” said Derek Irvine, vice president, client strategy and consulting at Globoforce. “Employees’ commitment to their organizations increases significantly if they feel a sense of belonging and feel valued.” To improve employee experience, organizations must ask how their cultures can be enhanced to become more human-friendly. Answers can be found in a new study conducted by the IBM Smarter Workforce Institute and Globoforce’s WorkHuman Research Institute which takes into account the experiences of 23,000 employees in 45 countries and territories. The study’s resulting index captures five core facets of the modern employee experience: sense of belonging, purpose, achievement, happiness and vigor. To enhance each of these, the study indicates that company leaders and managers need to provide a high level of clarity and direction. The study also examines organizational practices that drive “humanness” levels at work, including organizational trust, supportive coworker relationships, meaningful work, recognition, feedback and growth, empowerment and voice, and work-life balance. As the study shows, there are several methods to improve employee experience in the workplace: Promote greater positive work experiences to retain talent. Analysis shows employees with less-positive experiences are more than twice as likely to say they want to leave, versus those with much more positive experiences (44 percent vs. 21 percent). Offer recognition programs that provide rewards based on demonstrating core values. Organizations that do so have a considerably higher employee experience index score than those in organizations without recognition programs (81 percent vs. 62 percent). Recognize employees for the good work they do. 83 percent of employees report positive experiences when recognized, compared to 38 percent that are not recognized. Allow employee voices to be heard. Employees who feel their ideas and suggestions matter are more than twice as likely to report a positive employee experience than those who don’t (83 percent vs. 34 percent). Foster team dynamics in the workplace. Employees in teams have more positive employee experiences at work than those who work independently (73 percent vs. 61 percent). We must also recognize the role leaders and managers play in defining employees’ work experiences, and enable managers to design experiences consistent with an organization’s core values. An organization’s actions need to emulate the values it wants its employees to practice as well as nurture an environment that reinforces mutually supportive coworker relationships. This helps employees understand the deeper meaning of their work and how it contributes to the wider organizational purpose and goals. These analyses indicate that more positive employee experiences are linked to better performance, extra effort at work and lower turnover rates. Most importantly, organizations must listen regularly to the voices of their employees to understand the nature of their experiences at work. In doing so, these employee experiences will drive discretionary energy, resulting in the best work of employees’ lives for their companies. My career journey (so far) from the perspective of an International Graduate University of Manchester Careers Blog

My career journey (so far) from the perspective of an International Graduate Aiswarya Kishor an Indian student who studied MEng (Hons) Biomaterials Science and Tissue Engineering and graduated in 2018 tells us of her career journey so far. Aiswarya is now a Graduate Information Developer at Arm in the UK.   I have always admired people who knew what they wanted to do with their careers, especially because I was never one of them. When I first arrived in Manchester in September 2014, I was clueless about what I wanted to do after graduating and so, every summer during university, I worked as an intern to discern which path suited me most. By third year, I had narrowed the options down to working in research. To the ears of a tissue engineering student, a career on the brink of medical breakthroughs sounded exhilarating! To test it out, I worked as a research intern at Oxford University. It was during that internship that I had the epiphany that working in a lab simply wasn’t the right fit for me. By then, my final year at university was about to begin and most of my limited work experience was geared towards a career in academia. The natural alternative to pursuing a PhD and going down the research path was to find a graduate job. I soon decided this would be my goal and started actively job-hunting. During that time, several well-meaning friends warned me that finding a job in the UK as an international student was difficult, to say the least, but I was certain of my goal and determined not to give up. The very day I began applying, the rejections started pouring in and I began to experience firsthand the challenge of finding a company willing to sponsor a non-UK/EU citizen. Throughout the process, the one thing that worked in my favour was the emphasis most companies place on ‘transferrable skills’. As a proactive person who likes to get involved and try new things, I had unwittingly picked up many of those exact skills while volunteering on campus, juggling part-time jobs, participating in student societies and writing for the Mancunion. In May 2018, these skills and the loving support of some close friends and family helped me bag a graduate job! I now work at Arm â€" a vibrant company filled with smart, friendly people â€" doing a job that combines several of my interests and skills. I’ve now been here for about 6 months and I can honestly say that I wake up every morning looking forward to going to work. Looking to the future, I may not know where I’ll be in 5 years’ time, but I am confident that I can handle whatever life throws my way. After all, completing job applications, attending interviews, writing a final year dissertation and facing rejections all at once? Been there, done that. Some of my top tips for international students hoping to secure a graduate job: There’s no better time to start than now. Keep toxic people a mile away and ignore their words of discouragement. If you really want that job, just work hard and be resilient. Grab every opportunity to gain experience while you are still a student. It is surprisingly common for summer internships and placements to lead to graduate offers. Don’t underestimate the power of networking â€" it helps you build essential contacts and discover new jobs. Employee referrals will only boost your chances of getting that dream job! Many companies use algorithms to sieve through applications so make sure your CV includes the keywords they are looking for. Manchester has a terrific careers service! Make the most of it. Arrange one-to-one sessions with experienced career consultants, network at Meet the Professionals events, find vacancies on CareersLink and speak to a solicitor if you have any concerns regarding the visa application process. Mix Your Title With Key Words The title/slogan square is the #1 place LinkedIn draws catchphrases from when positioning requesting profiles in selection representative and business look. Does yours contain enough? In spite of the fact that you have restricted space in which to explain your vocation objectives, key abilities/accomplishments, or qualifications, your title can impart a great deal in 120 characters. Use title truncations when significant, for example, SVP, CEO, or c-level to convey the degree of position you are looking for. Incorporate various profession targets in the event that you are in dynamic hunt mode and seeking after more than one title. Incorporate at least one important capacities, for example, deals, showcasing, tasks, or money. Incorporate key accreditations or certifications, for example, Six Sigma Black Belt, MBA, or PMP. Warm Your Summary Up Some portion of the motivation behind your LinkedIn profile is to support enrollment specialists, bosses, and persuasive contacts to feel a feeling of association with you and to become more acquainted with you. Is your rundown warm and welcoming? Numerous individuals compose their profiles in third individual language, talking about themselves as though they were another person (John's most noteworthy profession energy is… as opposed to My most noteworthy vocation enthusiasm is … ). I would contend first individual language is hotter, progressively close to home, and conveys a greater amount of your character. Composing your synopsis with I articulations will in general abbreviate it, and shorter is better on your LinkedIn profile. Focus on a rundown of 10-15 aptitudes notwithstanding those utilized in the body of your outline. 5. Evacuate Early Career Roles Since selection representatives and bosses regularly look for applicants dependent on the measure of experience they have, posting such a large number of occupations on LinkedIn can screen you in light of employments. Does your profile need age-sealed? Most selection representatives would prefer essentially not to see your whole profession illuminated on LinkedIn â€" that is the thing that they hope to discover on your resume. What they hope to discover on LinkedIn is the last 10-15 years of your work history. Discard pre-1999 occupations from your profile inside and out On the off chance that you held a vocation from before in the 1990's until after 2000, you may need to shorten or take out the job so as to keep your application from being disregarded in spotter and manager look. 6. Evacuate Education Dates Counting training dates on LinkedIn welcomes conscious or accidental age separation. What do your instruction dates impart about your vocation story? As with pre-1999 work dates, training dates welcome issues on LinkedIn profiles. Except if you are a genuinely new alumni, evacuate your work dates by choosing the â€" rather than a year in the date drop-down box. On the off chance that you do this, be predictable and overlook the entirety of your instruction and preparing dates. 7. Connect A Bio, Marketing Brief, Or 1-Page Resume Extend your LinkedIn vocation brand by including at least one reports or media that feature your applicable profession abilities. Which bit of your profession portfolio would you be able to use to advance your profile? It was there that I began working with visual planners and modelers and went gaga for structure. I chose I needed to be a visual architect and cold pitched Shiseido on the grounds that one of my preferred planners, Eiko Ishioka, began her vocation there and I convinced them to offer me a temporary position. I additionally worked at innovative offices and did a ton of character structure, which is the thing that got me keen on marking. That drove me to apply for my lords degree in key interchanges, which I got from Columbia University, which optimized my showcasing profession. I went from Bloomberg to Dow Jones and now I run advertising for a startup. I manage PR, marking, plan, client obtaining, and content promoting. Its scary.   Especially to a job seeker who is in-between health insurance policies. Im not going to talk about my family and friends who are struggling with cancer right now, with the exception of one friend, my video editor Bong.   His father was diagnosed with cancer and is starting treatments.   Bong is working hard, as are others in his family, to figure out how to pay for this treatment.   Bong has not asked me for more money, or for a raise, he has actually asked me for something very simple a vote in a video contest. Why? The winner gets a Sony laptop. How is that going to help Bong?   He writes: If I win the prize (a Sony Vaio), Im planning to sell it so I could help my mom with all the hospital bills. How cool is that? So please join with me and either rate or comment on Bongs video on YouTube (it is a 50 second video, which is his idea for a commercial for a bank in the Philippines) you either have to have a YouTube account OR YOU CAN LOGIN WITH YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT! Each rating or comment on this YouTube page counts as a vote. Again, any comments or ratings on this video goes towards Bong winning the laptop. And that laptop would help pay for his dads cancer treatment. Please spare a few minute to help out Bong and his family thank you. Cancer Sucks. Yes It Does. A few days ago I wrote Cancer Sucks. as a sole tweet. I got a number of private responses asking if I was okay yes, Im okay, no cancer that I know of but I have a number of friends and family who struggle with cancer, and it well, it sucks. Why Is a Resume Writing Summary Statement Important?

Why Is a Resume Writing Summary Statement Important?A resume writing summary statement is a brief explanation of the main areas of education and experience covered on your resume. If you are applying for jobs in which the candidates' work experiences and educational qualifications are similar to yours, a resume summary statement will be very important. On the other hand, if your job or position has little to do with education or work experience, a resume summary statement will not be as important. Here are some reasons why a resume summary statement is important.First, it should highlight the skills and abilities that make you an asset to the potential employer reading your resume. What type of person would be a good hire for this position? If you can demonstrate that you are reliable, dependable, and have the necessary skills to perform the job, that is what a resume summary statement should say. There are few employers who care much about details and the first impression, so don't waste your time trying to convince them otherwise. Make your statement very focused on the type of job you want and how it will benefit you.A second reason a resume writing summary statement is important is because it helps answer some of the questions an employer may have. If your job or position has little to do with work experience or education, then a resume summary statement will not be as important. However, if your job or position requires you to provide specific details regarding work experience or educational qualifications, a summary statement can help fill in those details.Another reason why a resume writing summary statement is important is because it can also serve as an interview pitch. Most people want to be hired, so they are eager to be hired. A resume summary statement will give a potential employer some information about you and show them that you are a person they can trust. The final reason why a resume writing summary statement is important is because it can be very powerful. You will be able to save a lot of time by using a summary statement as your introduction to your resume. You may be able to eliminate several pages of your resume if you have a quick statement to introduce yourself. There are a few things to consider when choosing the best summary statement. First, make sure the statement is short but informative. Short sentences are easier to read, and most people can understand a simple statement in five to ten seconds.A second thing to consider when using a summary statement is what kind of information you are looking to highlight. For example, if you are applying for a sales position, you should highlight your experience in sales. If you are applying for a sales or customer service position, you should emphasize your customer service skills.A resume writing summary statement is a very important part of your resume. It is an easy way to quickly establish yourself as someone who can add value to a prospective employer. If you have a summary statement that clearly communicates what you have to offer, you should not have any trouble explaining why you are the right candidate for the job.

Which Country Has the Happiest Employees

Which Country Has the Happiest Employees The latest infographic from our friends at Zendesk takes a look at which countries have the happiest employees, and which ones don’t. Recently, they announced the  Satisfaction Index, which uses the  Zendesk benchmark  to measure customer happiness across 65 million consumers in 137 countries. Looking over the inforgraphic and Satisfaction Index in tandem, there is something of a connection between countries with happy employees and countries that are providing the best customer service. Canada, Australia, and Germany have high rates of happy employees and some of the highest customer service scores. On the other hand, France, China and Turkey have some the lowest rates of happy employees and also have a low scores on the customer service satisfaction index. While there isn’t always a connection between how happy employees are and how good the customer service is in any given country, Zendesk strongly believe that in general, a happy customer support rep is way more likely to provide quality customer service. Big shout going out to Denmark, the land of bacon, beer, Kierkegaard and the happiest employees in the world!

When you face a challenge, the first thing you need to do is to stop and take a deep breath so you can think before you act. Below find the rest of the steps you need to take in order to overcome challenges at work. Define the real problem: The first thing you need to do is to define what the real problem is. Start with asking questions about the problem so that you can get to the root of it. Then, formulate the problem and explain it to your coworker to check whether you really understand it. Talking about the problem with someone else helps you understand it better and understanding the problem well is the first step of solving it. Divide the problem into smaller pieces: It is very hard to deal with one big problem but if you divide this problem into smaller pieces, you can easily deal with these small problems one by one. If you don’t want to get help from them or if you are an entrepreneur working by yourself, then, you can call a friend you trust and whom you think had a similar problem before to get advice from him/her. You will realize that you are not the only one facing problems and people around you too had similar challenges before. If you want to do great things, then you probably know that there will always be different problems you have to face along the way. Therefore, see this as part of your bigger dream and welcome new challenges.
